Carla Hartley created the first distance education program for Midwives Apprentice Academics in 1981. In 1994 the name was changed to Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. She is the author of Helping Hands, The Apprentice Workbook, and several educational publications relating to birth. She has spent close to thirty years in birth work of one kind or another: childbirth educator, midwife, author, speaker, and midwifery educator, and she is the mother of four children and Baba to six. Carla is the founder and director of the Trust Birth Initiative whose primary work is telling the truth: Birth is Safe; Interference is Risky. www.trustbirth.com and www.ancientartmidwifery.com.

Listen and be inspired as Carla shares with you her philosophy that "Birth is Safe, Interference is Risky"

During the event there will be refreshments, a community table for all attendees to leave their business cards and/or flyers for upcoming events, classes and services available to the birth community and don't forget the usual KBC door prizes and raffles! Red Tent with Carla Hartley
7pm to 10pm
to be hosted at Poplar Heights Birth and Wellness Center

A women's time of sharing birth stories, good food, henna, massage, music and laughter! Join us in the sacred tradition of The Red Tent.

This very special evening will feature Carla, Kitsap Birth Collective Directors. Also local henna artist Kristina Kruzan will create her henna designs with 50% of her proceeds being given to Kitsap Birth Collective. Local licensed massage therapist Cyndi Hawkins will be offering her relaxing hand and foot massages as well.

Leave feeling empowered and with your cup filled! You'll be ready to support your clients, family and friends as they journey through their very special birth year.

KBC will provide tea, coffee, soda, water....and of course, chocolate! Each attendee is asked to bring a sweet or savory hors d'oeuvre type dish to share. Dishes, utensils and cups will be provided.

An area will be provided for networking, please bring any materials that you would like to offer the women to take. Business cards, pamphlets, etc. There will be a place for pertinent information to be announced regarding women centered special events, books, resources, natural products and the like.

We're limited in space for the Red Tent Event. PayPal is the most efficient way and would guarantee your spot. Tickets for the Red Tent Event are $25 each by snail mail and $30 by PayPal. Same addresses as above.

There are no refunds for either of these events with the exception of event cancellation. If you find you can't attend, we encourage you to consider your ticket a donation to the Kitsap Birth Collective.

KBC always does its part to be green and these tickets just like last year will be in the form of a list at the door. You will receive confirmation by email that your payment and seat have been counted.
