and she said she was quoting from the book's press kit. That would be written up by someone like Mary who read it and wrote up a presentation of what the book is about. There is the possibility some things in the book could be spelled differently though since the person isn't from the U.S. Once a book is printed and distributed it is too late to fix the spelling. So I guess it bugs you when people make spelling mistakes on obstetrical terms like "pitocin?" :P Argh...me too! I have difficulty sometimes reading things that were written in the UK because of the whole LABOUR or COLOUR stuff. I find it hangs me up and prevents reading quickly because I notice it isn't written the way we would write it. Sigh. I hate not being able to just tuck in and read something with a rapid pace because of word issues like that. Flylady has me pegged right. I am way too much of a perfectionist and it really irks me when I can't fix my own errors, but it irks me MORE when others can't fix theirs and I have to keep looking at them. I'm sure this one issue probably keeps me from blogging and from turning in a finished book manuscript. |
